As you are recording your video, you should try to control as many of the surrounding factors as is practical.
Background noise, even fairly quiet noises like from fans, air conditioners etc. could present a major problem.
They can be very distracting and often result in a lower quality video. We will look at 3 simple ways to get rid of or mostly eliminate annoying background noises that might have been recorded in your video.

1. Recommended: Movavi Video Editor’s 1 Click Noise Removal Tool

Our short guide below will show you how to remove background noise using Movavi’s Video Editor.
Step1. Download and Set up Movavi Video Editor
Once you have downloaded the software, launch the program and follow the instructions on screen to install.
Step2. Upload Media Files
Select the Add Media Files icon and pick the audio and/or video file you would like to edit. On the Timeline, the audio will be added to the Audio Track and the video will be added to the Video Track.
Step3. Remove Background Noise
On the Timeline, double-click the media file to get to the audio denoise feature. From the drop-down menu, pick Tools and then proceed to Audio Properties.
Choose the Video tab from the Tools window and then select the Noise Removal function.
Move the Noise suppression slider to eliminate background noises from your recorded audio or video then click Apply. Play around with various slider values until you get the result you are looking for; note that the sound distortion could occur if there is a high level of noise suppression.
Step4. Export the Result
Once you are happy, save the final project.
In the corner (lower right) select the Export button and choose which format you want to save your project in.
Audio and video formats include AVI, MP4, MOV, MP3, WAV, WMA, etc. Hit the Start button to save.
2. Runner-up: Filmora’s Noise Removal Using the Denoise Tool
When it comes to video editing software for newbies, Filmora has always been popular. It allows you to join videos, add audio, eliminate background noises, use video transitions, create slide shows and much more.
The program is user-friendly. This is how you eliminate your video’s background noise using Filmora.
Step1. Upload the video file to be edited to Filmora. Next, drag the video to the timeline.
Step2. To begin working on the audio file, it has to be separated from the video file. Select Audio Detach after you right click on the video file.
Step3. On the separated audio clip, right-click and choose Edit. The background noise menu will now appear.
We’ll begin by clicking on the useful Denoise function.
If this didn’t provide enough noise reduction, move the slider o Mid or Strong.
Step4. The narrator’s voice might have a robotic or metallic sound after applying the denoise function.
Fix this using the Equalizer tool, which is just above the Denoise function. Adjust it until the audio has been improved.
The equalizer’s default is to have all the settings on zero. Before adjusting the levels, it is important to note that the first 4 lines from the left side adjust the bass of the audio.
To produce a natural sounding audio, reduce the leftmost setting as well as the mid tones in the middle range to avoid a robotic sounding voice. There is no need to adjust the right side where the high-pitched treble noise settings are located.
That’s it, you’re all done!
3. Remove Background Noise from Audio or Video Using Free Tools (Audacity)
Since Audacity was released in 2000, it has been a leader in freeware for sound editing. It is available for download on Mac, Linux and Windows.
What exactly is Audacity? It is a powerful audio editor with many functions for editing audio files like recording music, cut and trim audio, mix audio samples, audio effects, blend multiple MP3s, mute parts of the audio and so much more!
When using Audacity to minimize noise, be sure to have a sole noise recording of a a couple of seconds that you want to get rid of as well as your voiceover.
Step1. Highlight the Noise Section
Begin by importing the audio file into Audacity. Next, highlight the part that has just the background noise when there is no voiceover.
Note: It will be more effective with a larger sample size.
Step2. Get Noise Profile
Head to Effects > Noise Reduction.
Then select Get Noise Profile button, which will give Audacity a sample of the audio with background noise.
Step3. Apply Noise Profile to the Entire Audio Track.
Highlight the whole audio track, then head to Effects > Repeat Noise Reduction. Audacity will now apply the effect.
Is there still some background noise? Repeat the above steps and apply the noise reduction effect until you are happy with the outcome.
